Throughout all the hard work the team and I put together to make this site a reality, I am glad to say we are finally ready for business! Tonight’s spicy 6 game slate features a ton of back-to-back games from teams playing yesterday and a lot of key injuries to focus on. From what we know now, both Derozan (ankle) and Embiid (knee) are ruled out tonight. One thing to note however, is that Clippers All-Star Blake Griffin will be probable to play tonight against the 76ers. So, without question, it will definitely be interesting to build a lineup tonight.
With that being said, let’s get into the slate!
High Priced: Kyle Lowry |$8,400| vs SAS
Kyle Lowry and the Toronto Raptors are coming in tonight’s game against Spurs angry with vengeance and hungry for a victory as they have lost their past 3 straight games. Being in home and without his partner in crime Demar DeRozan, Lowry will want to keep this game competitive against one of the best teams in the western conference. Without DeRozan, Lowry inherits a 29.5% Usage Rate while averaging about 1.19 Fantasy Points per minute. Unless foul trouble happens in this game, Lowry should see a ton of minutes while he goes up against a downward’s trending and derailed Spurs team with opposing guard Tony Parker out in tonight’s matchup. I expect big things from Lowry tonight, and at $8,400 he is a safe play for me if you want to spend up on the PG position.
Also Consider: Isaiah Thomas ($9,300), Eric Bledsoe ($9,300), Elfrid Payton ($6,700)
Tonight’s slate looks like a slate to pay up for the PG position today, so that means there will be no High Valued PG plays for tonight’s slate.
High Priced: Bradley Beal |$6,700| vs BOS
Coming into tonight’s matchup, the red-hot Washington Wizards will be squaring up against the Boston Celtics in the nation’s capital. Being 8-2 in their last 10 games, the Wizards have been climbing the standings while finally forming consistency throughout the whole team. Former Florida Gator Bradley Beal is coming in this matchup knowing that opposing guard Avery Bradley (achilles) will be ruled out tonight. A. Bradley is known for his defense and without him, the Celtics have found their achilles heel in guarding SG’s. Just last game, in OT, they allowed CJ McCollum to explode for 47.90 fanduel points and in Beal’s last game against them he went off for 45 fanduel points himself. Appropriately priced at $6,700, he is definitely in line for a great game and has a good chance of exceeding value in tonight’s matchup.
Also Consider: Devin Booker ($6,500)
High Valued: Norman Powell |$3,900| vs SAS
At just $3,900, Norman Powell makes himself as one of the most enticing value plays tonight on the board. I could see some people fading him because of the previous game he had when he started only scored 7 fanduel points, but without DeRozan in tonight’s lineup, the Raptors are gonna need some offense from Powell and he will provide that tonight. Powell needs only 20 to exceed value, so that shouldn’t be hard knowing what he has done in the past without DeRozan in the starting lineup. Simply put, lock him in.
High Priced: Andrew Wiggins |$7,100| @ PHO
It’s certainly clear that Andrew Wiggins has broken out of his January slump because recently in his past 6 games, 5 of them he has exceeded 5x his value. The one game where he didn’t exceed value? Oh, that’s right, against Kwahi Leonard and the Spurs. Now going against the Phoenix Suns averaging 25.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in two games he played against them with a spread of only -1 and the second highest O/U set at 214, this definitely looks like the game to target especially for “late-night hammer” purposes. Going in, I could see Wiggins being the chalky play, but there is no reason not to pick him, with Rubio probable, one would expect that a lot passes from Rubio will come Wiggins’ way and priced at $7,100, it’s hard to see him not hit/exceed value tonight in what should be a high-scoring and high-paced affair.
Also Consider: Jimmy Butler ($9,600)
High Valued: Otto Porter |$6,300| vs BOS
Another target from tonight’s highest O/U game is definitely Otto Porter. His past 2 games against the Celtics: 68 fanduel points followed by 40 fanduel points. Yup, priced at $6,300, both games showcased Porter’s upside and his consistency. Contrast from his production earlier in the season, Porter has developed his shot consistency and overall rebounding rate that’s worth to being talked about. Tied with Joe Ingles, Otto Porter has taken more shots and is the co-leader in the NBA in 3 point field goal percentage at 45%. Clearly, the shots have been falling for Porter and going against a team that will pay more attention on guarding Washington’s front court in Beal and Wall, Porter should see a lot of shot opportunities and a lot of rebounding opportunities as well (Celtics ranking dead last in rebounding rate). Porter is in an excellent spot tonight and is definitely worth a spot in your lineups.
Also Consider: Terrence Ross ($4,000), Joe Ingles ($4,200)
High Priced: LaMarcus Aldridge |$7,600| @ TOR
In all honesty, tonight doesn’t seem like the night to spend up for PF’s. From early thoughts, LaMarcus Aldridge makes the most sense to pay up as he is going against an opposing team that is in the bottom tier in guarding PF’s, but with Leonard back, Aldridge’s usage rate does take a hit making me off of him in tonight’s cash game plays. Don’t get me wrong, he definitely makes a case for a GPP play as this game should be competitive and the minutes will be there, but will all the value in the PF position tonight, it’s wise to spend down at this position.
Also Consider: Markieff Morris ($6,400)
High Valued: Ersan Ilyasova/David Lee
Ilyasova- Previously spoked about above, Embiid is in fact ruled out tonight and Jahlil Okafor is questionable tonight as well. With a depleted front court up in Philly, the 76ers will look to the likes of Ersan Ilyasova tonight as an essential piece of their offense. Ilyasova is the definition of Mr. Consistency, meaning you will never find a game where he disappoints. The 3-point specialist should see the ball in his hands and the shots will for sure be taken tonight, so there is no reason that you shouldn’t expect a big night for the Turkish forward even with a probable Blake Griffin playing against him. 6x value would not surprise me, so Ilyasova makes for a top valued PF play in tonight’s 6 game slate.
Lee- Out of nowhere, in the past 3 games David Lee has shown that he is your nightly double-double threat. The aging 2x All-Star has shown flashes of his vintage self in the past 3 games and whether he is starting or not, he has proved that the consistency is still there for him and he is still relevant in the ever-changing NBA. Been saying this for the past 3 games he played, David Lee is still underpriced in that he should cost $1,000 more for the recent production he has been putting up. To sum it up, Lee makes for an excellent target in what should be a close scoring and competitive game over in Toronto.
Also Conisder: Derrick Favors ($4,500), Nerlens Noel ($4,000)
High Priced: Karl-Anthony Towns |$10,100| @ PHO
Don’t know if I was the only one questioning Town’s legitimacy in the NBA earlier in the year as he didn’t put up top-3 center-like numbers, but my, have things changed. Towns has had some noteworthy games recently and is making a solid case that he is worth being priced in the 10k range. Towns has had at least 54 fantasy points in five of his last seven games and is a nightly threat for 50+ fanduel any given night. Being in Coach Thibodeau’s offense, the minutes on the court have definitely been there (at least 40 min his last 3 games). Phoenix being ranked 24th overall in defensive efficiency should make another case for picking KAT tonight as well. Like stated before, if you want to add another piece to your “late night hammer” collection, KAT makes an excellent reason to pay up tonight. Fade at your own risk, I expect big things from the former #1 pick out of Kentucky tonight.
Also Consider: Deandre Jordan ($8,400)
High Valued: Robin Lopez |$4,600| @ ORL
I’m finding it hard to pick the most reasonable candidate for the value center play tonight, but If you chose to pay down, Robin Lopez makes the most sense to target. In his previous meeting with Orlando, Lopez struggled to produce and hit value, but that was against the once starting big man Biskmak Biyombo in the lineup. Now, with Vucevic defending the paint, I’ve found myself frequently targeting big men against the Magic as a source of valuable fanduel points. Both Lopez’s minutes and production have been consistent recently after his poor stretch earlier in the year reaching, by now hitting 5x value his last 6 games, so if you find yourself spending low tonight at the center position, I wouldn’t be upset if you rostered Robin Lopez.
Also Consider: Tyson Chandler ($6,200), Jahlil Okafor ($4,600), Lucas Noguiera ($3,800)
