The last couple nights have been brutal low-scoring nights in NBA DFS – contrarian was definitely the way to go. Here’s hoping to a more successful night on today’s 3-game slate. There will be some extremely chalky plays tonight. Due to it being a small slate the following players will still carry some ownership, but should be lesser owned than some of their positional counterparts.
Rajon Rondo ($5,200): He’s been playing 24-29 minutes in the last three games and put up 36.3, 27.9 and 33.3 FanDuel points, respectively. While he’s still part of a timeshare, it appears he is finally out of the doghouse, as his minutes and usage have stabilized. He’s literally the only option in the mid-tier at point so he will be somewhat popular, but I expect a lot casual players paying up for both spots.
Nikola Mirotic ($4,200): Last game he was the chalk and put up a big stinker. He remains the best low-priced option at PF and the recency bias may have a lot of players pivoting off him. I’ll gladly hop on at the slightly reduced ownership, given his upside for 30+ fantasy points.
Chalk of the Night:
Will clearly be Frank the Tank, given his slight $6,200 price tag at a weak Center position. I expect him to be 90%+ owned tonight in cash and 80%+ in GPPs. It is extremely difficult to fade him at this price, given his recent performance, but all it takes is one off night or a 1st quarter injury. If I’m playing a single entry GPP I’m plugging him in, but if I’m playing a multi-entry GPP I would strongly consider being underweight on the field and mixing in some shares primarily of Jusuf Nurkic followed by small shares of Alex Len, Alan Williams and Robin Lopez.
