Heading into week 3, It’s been a crazy first 2 weeks, to say the least. With the first 2 weeks over with, we’ve been able to gather up some data based on how the teams have played so far. These sample sizes will allow us to see how defenses are, O-Line stability, snap counts, targets, and much more. In this article, we got some cheap plays on FanDuel that should exceed expectations this week. Let’s get straight to it!
QB- Blake Bortles: Price- $6,700, Ranked- QB20
Reasoning: If you haven’t seen the highlights last week between the Jaguars/Patriots, go check them out and you will be all aboard the Blake Bortles hype train. He finished the game with a remarkable stat line of 29-45, 376 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns. I’m not saying he’s doing that each week but he provides a very safe floor at home vs the struggling Tennessee Titans. I’m expecting around 275 pass yards with 2-3 TD’s this week.
RB- Corey Clement: Price- $5,800, Ranked- RB33
Reasoning: Another year, another season with Jay Ajayi dealing with injuries. Ajayi has been dealing with a back injury that he suffered in the week 2 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ajayi and backup RB Darren Sproles (hamstring), haven’t practiced at all this week. As the next man up, the second year, undrafted scatback Corey Clement, totaled 85 yards and a score last week. If he sees a full workload this week, it could be a huge incoming game at home vs the Indianapolis Colts.
RB- Latavius Murray: Price- $5,200, Ranked- RB42
Reasoning: Sneaky play… Dalvin Cook might not even play this week since he’s dealing with a hamstring injury. If he sits out, Latavius Murray becomes a workhorse RB1 in a pristine matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Honestly, even if Cook plays, I still like Murray in this matchup. If Cook plays, he’s not going to see a major workload in my opinion. The huge thing about this play is how good the game script will be. The Vikings at home will have an early lead and this will result in them running the ball a ton. Bold call of the week: Murray scores 2 TD’s whether Cook plays or not.
UPDATE: COOK IS OUT!
WR- Devin Funchess: Price-$6,200, Ranked WR30
Reasoning: No easier way to say it but, Greg Olsen out equals fantasy production for Devin Funchess. My dude Funchess had a very respectable stat line last week going against Desmond Trufant of the Atlanta Falcons, putting up 7 catches for 77 yards on 9 targets. Another thing to look at is that Funchess had a good game even with Christian Mccaffrey went off with an absurd 15 targets in the receiving department this past week. Looking forward to this week, Mccaffrey will not see 15 targets and Funchess gets an easier matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. We have a solid chance of seeing Funchess have a FUN game this weekend with a TD.
D- Miami Dolphins: Price-$3,700, Ranked D18
Reasoning: Ok I must admit, a lot of the reasoning for this week’s pick is that the Dolphins host the Oakland Raiders and their QB is Derek Carr. I strongly believe that Carr is the most overrated QB in the league. Anyway, this Dolphins has been low key effective in DFS. They are allowing only 13 points on average, have 3 sacks, 5 interceptions, and a defensive TD in the 2 game sample size. I’m expecting a low scoring game with the Dolphins getting the W at home.
