First off, congrats to those of you that have clinched playoffs in the 2018 season. All your hard work and dedication has paid off. Now for those of you who need a win this week, or you are gearing up towards the playoffs, we have a couple possible league winners that could make it easier for you. All of these guys are owned in less than 50% of leagues, so hopefully, you can get your hands on them!
QB: Justin Jackson (ESPN: 0.2% Owned)
Before we get into this: No, he’s not the guy on the Sacremento Kings!!! Anyways, with the Los Angeles Chargers trotting Melvin Gordon onto the field to start the second half when they had a huge lead against a week Arizona Cardinals was questionable, to say the least. Then they run a double reverse, exposing Gordon into getting smeared into the ground, causing him to sprain his MCL. Now the reports on him are all over the place. We see some reports that he will only miss a week, others say he could be out for the 3-4 weeks. Regardless of the time missed, I prefer Justin Jackson over Austin Ekelar. Earlier in the season when Gordon missed the London game, Ekelar proved to the fantasy world that he was in no shape and form, a 3-down back. So I’m expecting the rookie back to get 10-15 carries a game, with a couple targets sprinkled in. With 7 carries for 57 yards last week, Jackson was averaging a little over 8 YPC. He’s my favorite waiver pickup this week.
RB: Nyheim Hines (ESPN: 29.9% Owned)
First things first, I like the explosive skills set that Hines possesses. Anyway, Marlon Mack suffered a concussion late in the week 12 win against the Miami Dolphins. With that being said, Mack has a solid chance of sitting this week. If he sits, Hines is a great addition, especially in PPR leagues. In the 2 games, Mack missed this season, Hines had at least 12 fantasy points in each game and averaged 9 targets, which cant be ignored. Although the matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars doesn’t look appealing, this Jaguars unit isn’t what they were last week. We did just see Buffalo Bills rookie Josh Allen embarrass them last week. Not to mention Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts are one of the hottest teams in the league, I like Hines a lot this week if Marlon Mack sits.
WR: Bruce Ellington (ESPN: 0.8% Owned)
As most of you aren’t even aware of what team Ellington is on, he is on the Detroit Lions. He hasn’t been getting any attention, but he will after this week. After trading Golden Tate to the Eagles, it looked like it would be the Marvin Jones/Kenny Golladay show right? well, it was looking likely until Marvin Jones landed on the IR with a knee injury. Ellington is a sneaky option for the Lions because he has that rare ability to be able to succeed playing in the outside or playing in the slot. He has been on the Lions for 2 weeks and is averaging 8 targets a game. Worth a flier, especially in PPR leagues.
WR: Adam Humphries (ESPN: 28.5% Owned)
This guy has quietly been one of the most underrated WR’s in the fantasy land over the last couple of weeks. Since week 8, Humphries has 24 catches, for 301 yards, and 3 touchdowns on 31 targets. He also has 10+ fantasy points in 5 of the last 7 games. He is quietly becoming Jameis Winstons safety blanket and could start finishing second on the team in targets behind Mike Evans.
